The plot thickens...

A few hours after calling BW2 a deluxe version, Serebii gave a completely contradicting statement on his new BW2 page. This is likely caused by him not having a clue as to where they're going with this, despite his inside connections (that, incidentally, don't always tell him everything). Is it a twin deluxe version? A full-fledged sequel? Or another possibility, a twisted hybrid of the two, where the game's practically the same but with a different story?

Either way, I'm sort of biting my lip right now, because after all the fuss I made about waiting for the deluxe version, the possibility that I'm going to have to end up LPing both games is real. I suppose I'll have to wait to see just how different the same games are before deciding - and on that note, no, even if it's confirmed to be a sequel tomorrow, I'm still waiting until the Japanese release to see what remains the same and what's different.

  1. I think it would be a good idea to wait, but if they are completely different games (sequal) I know your doing White, would you do White 2 or Black 2?

    1. White 2, for the same reason as White. Provided the version exclusives remain the same, of course.

    2. According to Bulbapedia, White Kyurem will be in White 2 and Black Kyurem will be in Black 2, in contrast to the originals.

    3. I was more thinking along the lines of whichever one has Lilligant.

  2. If your Soul Silver LP ended this month instead of last one, would you have just followed on with a BW LP straight away, knowing that BW2 could be a complete sequel?

    1. No. I would still wait until release, then make a decision there, because we do NOT know if it is a direct sequel, and if it is then how much has been changed. If it's the same game with a different story, I'd probably only do the second one.

  3. Well, I, for one, would relish both a B/W LP and a B/W2 LP if you'd be up for it.
I'm beginning to think that the best thing to compare B/W2 to would be Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness to Pokémon Colosseum. I hope it is something like that. Either way, stoked for the coming months!

    1. Oh, also, I don't think anyone would blame you for doing a White LP when you said you wouldn't. I mean, it's not your fault, you didn't know what was coming. :P

    2. Neither did anyone else, either. If anyone told you they knew, they're lying. Period.

  4. I'm thinking it could be more like a V.2 of the game, with more plot-related events and more places to see in the post-game or something.
Something along the line of BW1 not having the complete storyline just to make even more money when the complete game comes out.
The only thing I'm worried is if owning BW1 would be completely pointless after the release.
At least for the previous deluxe versions there was still a few Pokemon that could only be obtained in the previous games, so there was still a point in owning them...

    1. What you described is the textbook definition of "twin deluxe versions". I think withholding part of the story is a big accusation though, it feels more like they didn't know where to take it yet. They did that very thing with D/P, where Cyrus, Mars and Jupiter just disappear at the end, and then Platinum tells you what happened to them.

    2. I just received the consolation prize of having the top comment of PIMPNITE's update about BW2. Now people are actually considering the fact that they came up with way too much bullcrap assumptions that have gone too far since the games have been announced. Sadly, I had to put some words in caps to attract their attentions, but many people replied to me so far, which is quite a relief.
(I don't care if some of them think I'm making big accusations as long as they consider the possibility)
I know that PIMPNITE's fanbase does not represent the whole Pokemon fanbase, but it's still a good start...

  5. So I just beat White on my actual DS since up till now I haven't had one and had to use emulation, and I got to that part where the Shadow Triad gives you the 3 Orbs. They mentioned things like "Where did he get them" and "Why did he have them". Would be interesting if somehow Dialga, Palkia and Giratina somehow found they're way into the BW2 games, unlikely though it may be.
