More details on Kyushu bullet train event

A few days ago, Serebii reported that an Extremespeed Pikachu was going to be distributed to commemorate the launch of a new bullet train in the Japanese region of Kyushu. Today, he came back on the subject, since that's not all there is to this giveaway. On top of that, three different distributions will take place, and in each one you'll get one of three Pokémon. Out of the nine Pokémon distributed, three are currently known: Sceptile, Milotic and Metagross. It's still unknown whether they'll have their DW abilities or not, but as far as the three I just mentioned go it's not a big deal, since they already have their DW abilities, and only Sceptile's is of any interest. New moves then? It's a more likely scenario, though it's also quite possible that they have nothing that makes them different. Which would be sad.

One thing we DO know about the remaining six Pokémon, though, is that they will all be generation 3 Pokémon as well. Oblivious ignoramuses will immediately read into it as SIGN OF REMAKES, but the reality is much more simple (that's even before factoring in Saturday's tacit confirmation that there'll be no remakes this gen), and it's due to the fact that Kyushu is the region Hoenn was based on.

But wait, that's not all! Yet another giveaway, set to take place after the three I mentioned above, will distribute Kyogre and Groudon! Once again, it's unknown whether they'll have any special moves (though we can agree that Kyogre does NOT need any!), but between the Pikachu, Kyogre and Groudon, you can only get one out of the three. That's right, should you choose to get the Pikachu, you're not getting Kyogre and Groudon. Why? I don't get this at all.

  2. I assume this post happened before the announcement, so just in case you check here first:

B2W2 was confirmed for the NA region in the fall! That's the quickest localization I've ever seen, but it's certainly good news!

  3. If you already have a Groudon or Kyogre and they don't have any special moves, getting Pikachu isn't that bad an idea.

    1. I'd still take a second Kyogre over the rat. Why have one giant sea monster when you can have two?

... Fuck species clause man, double Kyogre is just too awesome.

  4. I will pick Pikachu only if it has its Dreamworld ability and the reason why I'll do this is because I'm not that much interested in playing Ubers...

If Rayquaza had been one of the choices, then it would sure had ended up in my Postgame team instead of Dragonite in W2, but meh... (I mean that my little brother could get it and keep it for me until I buy and beat the game of course)

Seriously, I'm sure GameFreak is one of the biggest troll in gaming companies that ever existed.

    1. Except for the part where Nintendo is the company that handles the events. Gamefreak just makes the games.

    2. Then why am I the one who get the critic when I'm not the first one to comment about it... on the same freaking post ?
