Pokémon x Nobunaga's Ambition press conference

A wild news item appears! And since I crossed the finish line as far as talking about that stuff in LP videos goes, I might as well use my new toy for it!

According to Bulbagarden, it will take place on Thursday afternoon in Japan, which means for us in North America it's something that's going to happen in the middle of the night. Great. Either way, I don't understand a lick of Japanese, so it's not like it's going to make much of a difference for me.

One thing that's becoming obvious, though, is that they seem to be pushing this game harder than any spin-off. What can we expect from that press conference? I honestly have no idea. Knowing the geniuses that are in charge of marketing the Pokémon series it'll just be a repeat of what CoroCoro said, but I'm hoping for more. In a perfect world, we'd have actual footage from the game that'd last long enough for us to get a feel for how it's going to play. Not just trailer-grade two-second snippets, either, I'm talking about a minute or two. THAT would really help me decide whether it looks like it's worth playing (should it ever get an international release, and if it doesn't then at least make me angry about that) or it belongs in the trash can.

One thing's for sure, though... I'm just as intrigued as ever. Pokémon in 16th century Japan, as I said in my column, is the most bizarre mix ever, but it could also work spectacularly well, and it's the knowledge of that fact that leaves me craving for more info.

  2. I have just one thing to say. Why doesn't the boss that got a Dewott actualy got a Samurott. That thing fits this theme so well. Samurott, Samurais, it really fits. Also Hideyoshi has a Monferno instead of an Infernape.

    1. Dewott is a samurai in training. And it looks far cooler than Samurott to boot. YES, I WENT THERE.

  3. I'm looking forward to information, I love turn-based strategy games. As a series I've literally never heard of before this game, it has a lot of room to impress me. I hope we get an international release.

  5. When I saw the Japanese trailer, I wondered if the concept had been ripped off by Final Fantasy Tactics Advance or if it was the opposite. The gameplay looks so much similar, but I know that we could say the same for many games belonging in the same category. Oh well, that particular game I mentioned was almost the only one of its kind that we got here recently and I might give this one a try if it ever gets localized.
(Fire Emblem is great, but it's a bit different and doesn't count in my opinion. There's also "Phantom Brave : We Meet Again"... but I'm sure that almost nobody played it and many of you don't know what the hell I'm talking about, so let's forget it too.)

    1. Nobunaga's Ambition has been around since 1983, so it's safe to assume EVERYTHING ELSE ripped it off.

    2. I figured as much when I remembered that you said that the original Mystery Dungeons series was already quite old in Japan before Game Freak recycled it.

By the way, speaking of Phantom Brave, I replayed the game yesterday and I checked some reviews of it today and considering how deep the customization system is and how it got an average of 7.5-8 on the few sites I checked, I'm surprised that so few people know about it.
Since there's so much content in this game, I'm frustrated that I can't find a damn database of stats or something.
(The status screen are well detailed, but you can't see the status screen of something you didn't encounter yet.)

Sorry if it was a bit long and pointless, but this game shares some similarities with both Pokemon and Nobunaga's Ambition and I know I can safely say my opinion here without having to bring a Flame Shield.

If Pokemon X Nobunaga's Ambition ever get an international release, let's hope it won't be completely unnoticed like that.

  6. Well, I've never really played many strategy games, but I recently bought one of the Nobunaga games for the PS2 to get a basic idea of what the series is like. I have very high hopes for this game, and maybe it could be as much of a master piece as the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games.

  7. Well Pokemon Mystery Dungeon survived to get an international release, so I'm certain that this game will as well. And I'm pretty certain with that, as the only Pokemon games that weren't released internationally were Pokemon Green, the PMD Wii games (which were apparently a complete waste of money any way) and the Typing game last year.

  8. And I'm not really crying over missing any of those.

  9. Well, technically Green was released outside of Japan in the form of Blue. The only differences between Japanese Green and international Blue are box art, title, and the colors displayed on the screen when played in the Gameboy Color. As for the PMD Wii game, the fact alone that there are three different versions of the game and nearly everything in the game is a version exclusive is reason alone to keep people from wasting...err spending money on them. And the Typing game was just an educational game made to teach Japanese kids English. So I'd say we have a pretty good chance here that this one's gonna get an international release.
