His out of character specials, including some of his favorites, or why he liked certain unpopular films, were very interesting. Unfortunately, as a comedian or actor he never made me laugh, so future projects that over his criticism have no appeal to me.1https://www.blogger.com/profile/13760868334095409033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1280492081721752941.post-1246622555542286282012-11-04T10:53:13.406-05:002012-11-04T10:53:13.406-05:00South Park does that, but to the extreme as well. ...South Park does that, but to the extreme as well. It seems that the only actually FUNNY animated sitcoms are The Simpsons and Futurama (although The Simpsons isn't brilliant nowadays it's still better than Family Guy, but it was still an absolute masterpiece back in the 1990s). So yeah, it seems that people think that cultural references can be substituted for, you know, COMEDY.Harryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06933326661552961842noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1280492081721752941.post-2262492958995047322012-11-04T03:25:34.108-05:002012-11-04T03:25:34.108-05:00Interesting, I'm not too impressed with Demo R...Interesting, I'm not too impressed with Demo Reel or the anniversary specials either. My big complaint was that, reference overload, with too little actual humor (which was, for my money, mostly provided by Zod and Terl). Family Guy syndrome, couldn't have said it better myself.Slowflakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18090675773915536700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1280492081721752941.post-17226156637492109212012-11-03T19:37:23.761-04:002012-11-03T19:37:23.761-04:00I'm curious to know what you thought of To Bol...I'm curious to know what you thought of To Boldly Flee, since I thought it was pretty average in terms of anniversaries (with reference overload).

As for Demo Reel, well...I can't really place my finger on why I didn't like it as much as the early Nostalgia Critics, perhaps it had to do with the fact that I'm not that big of a Dark Knight fan personally so a lot of those jokes end up being hit or miss for me. Doug seemed to be suffering the Family Guy problem where the writing team thinks references to movies constitute a joke and therefore chucking in as many references as possible leads to good comedy.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06639459064878828457noreply@blogger.com
